„Lecția” – performance, de Krõõt Juurak, cu Juurak și Luca Büchler.
𝗞𝗿õõ𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗸 (ES/AT) revine în București la Festivalul de performance de cameră în cadrul Instituției performance-ului, un program de artista Adriana Gheorghe, care se desfășoară din iunie până în octombrie 2025.
Festivalul de performance de cameră la Instituția performance-ului își propune să chestioneze lipsa unei instituții dedicate și să expandeze spațiul și sensul unei camere și al unei instituții, invitând lucrări care se pot întâmpla într-o cameră de 16mp și activități care nu se pot în niciun caz întâmpla în 16mp, și au nevoie de alianțe cu instituții partenere, ca Teatrul Masca, care se lasă permeate.
În acest context, practica artistică a lui Krõõt Juurak – perfecționată în a transforma încontinuu limitările propriei vieți – operează ca o cutie de rezonanță amplificând queerness-ul deja existent în interiorul unor convenții aparent clare precum tango-ul, comedia stand-up, terapia, școala și performance-ul.
De pe 12 iunie, de la ora 18:00, Krõõt va coordona un workshop de trei zile numit „Tango queer, un dans fără pași”, la Teatrul Masca, deschis tuturor pe baza înscrierii la theatresteatre@gmail.com. Durata: 90 min. Ultima zi va avea loc în amfiteatrul în aer liber și va fi deschisă și publicului.
„Ca dansatori/dansatoare, artiști/artiste și performeri contemporani, de obicei suntem condiționați/te să facem pe plac publicului și ne orientăm vizual către exterior. În acest workshop, voi inversa lucrurile și vă voi cere să încercați să vă impresionați mai întâi pe voi. Scopul acestui workshop este de a ne concentra radical asupra felului în care se simt lucrurile, nu cum apar ele. Vom învăța tango argentinian ca metodă de a căuta și a găsi ce ne dorim și cum dorim, de a învăța disciplina bucuriei. Nu este necesară experiența în dans sau dans în cuplu, ci doar dorința de a învăța ceva nou sau de a dezvăța ceva vechi.” (K.J.)
Pe 15 iunie, de la 19:00, Krõõt va performa lucrarea sa „Lecția”, cu o intervenție a asistentului Luca Büchler, la Teatre, pe Schitu Măgureanu 21. Durata: cca. 75 min.
„«Lecția» pendulează între stand-up, ședință de terapie și școală. O «lecție» cu un public de teatru – nu pentru a învăța ceva, ci pentru a trece timpul, așa cum e adesea la școală. Îmi asum rolul de profesor nu pentru a preda, ci pur și simplu pentru că joc acest rol pe durata performance-ului. Titlul inițial al spectacolului era «Terapie prin performance»: mai mult de doi ani de ședințe de psihanaliză au devenit procesul și materialul de cercetare pentru acest performance.” (K.J.)
Drept critică implicită a lipsei unei asemenea instituții și pledoarie pentru forța performance-ului de a institui structurile de care avem nevoie, Instituția performance-ului este un gest de fond care transformă toți participanții în protagoniști, păstrând ceva din mișcarea de maree a unui fel de a fi împreună nedelimitat prin mijloace exterioare, respectând nevoile individuale de diferență, dissensus și reformulare continuă. Textura sa este acustică și reflexivă.
𝗞𝗿õõ𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗸 (n. 1981, Tallin, Estonia) este artistx, performerx, stand-up și dansatoarx stabilitx în Viena. A studiat coregrafia la ArteZ și artele frumoase la Institutul Sandberg, Amsterdam. Krõõt are o aplecare către autosabotaj, către blocajul în stânjeneala de moment, având încredere mai degrabă în dramaturgia efortului și a tentativelor din economia unui proiect decât în reușita sa. Juurak a pus pe scenă conflicte de la locul de muncă, a performat pentru animale și chiar a lăsat rolul de regizor în mâinile propriului copil de un an. Spectacolele lui Juurak sunt produse adesea de Tanzquartier Wien, inclusiv „Lecția” (2023), „ȘCOALĂ” (2023, cu PARASOL) și „CODOMESTICIRE” (2019, cu Alex Bailey) și merge în turneu cu PCCC* – Clubul de Comedie Corect Politic.
𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗮 𝗕ü𝗰𝗵𝗹𝗲𝗿 (CH/AT) este performer, coregraf și artist vizual. Are licența în arte plastice de la Universitatea de Arte din Zürich și studiază arta transmedială la Universitatea de Arte Aplicate din Viena. Practica sa se concentrează asupra corpului și relațiilor acestuia cu normele și structurile sociale, cu temporalitatea și puterea, și trece de la performance la instalații și sculptură. Instalațiile și lucrările sale performative au fost expuse la Kunstverein Gartenhaus (Viena), Cabaret Voltaire (Zürich), Les Urbaines (Lausanne), Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Salzburger Kunstverein, Deichtorhallen, în Hamburg, Laurenz, Viena, Spoiler (Berlin) etc. Ca performer, a lucrat, printre altele, cu Olivia Erlanger și Krõõt Juurak.

𝗞𝗿õõ𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗸 (ES/AT) comes back to Bucharest for The Chamber Performance Festival within The Institution of Performance, a program by artist Adriana Gheorghe, happening between June and October 2025.
The Chamber Performance Festival of the Institution of Performance seeks to question the absence of such an institution and to expand the space and meaning of a room and of an institution by hosting works that can take place inside a 16 sqm room, as well as activities that could never take place within 16 sqm and therefore require alliances with partner institutions, like Masca Theatre, that allow themselves to be permeated.
In this context, Krõõt Juurak’s practice—specialized in continuously transforming the limitations of their own life—functions as a resonance box that amplifies the queerness already present within seemingly clear-cut conventions like tango, stand-up comedy, therapy, school, and performance.
Starting on June 12th, from 6PM, Krõõt will teach a three-day workshop called „Dancing With (queer tango without steps)” at Masca Theatre, open to everybody by registration at theatresteatre@gmail.com. Duration: 90 min. Last day will happen in the amphitheater outside and will be open to the audience as well.
“As contemporary dancers, actors and performers we are typically conditioned to please audiences, we orient ourselves visually towards the outside. in this workshop I will turn things around and ask you to try and impress yourself first. This workshop is about radically prioritizing the way things feel against how they look. Learning Argentine tango will be a method to look for and find what and how we desire, and the discipline of joy. Previous experience with dance or couple dance is not necessary, a wish to learn something new or to unlearn something old is necessary.” (K.J.)
On June 15th, from 7PM, Krõõt will perform their work called “Lesson”, together with Luca Büchler, their assistant, at Theatres, on Schitu Măgureanu 21. Duration: cca. 75 Min.
“«Lesson» oscillates between stand-up comedy, therapy session and school. A «lesson» with a theater audience–not to learn something, but to do time, as is so often the case at school. I take on the role of the teacher, not to teach, but because I simply play this role for the duration of the performance.
The original title of the work was «Performance Therapy»: psychoanalysis sessions from more than two years became the process and research material for the performance.” (K.J.)
The Chamber Performance Festival hosts a series of activities unfolding within a 16 sqm chamber (the size of the Teatre/Theatres space on Schitu Măgureanu 21, Bucharest), as well as activities that can in no way take place within a 16 sqm room but in an partner institution like Masca Theatre that allows itself to be permeated by the Institution of Performance.
An implicit critique of the lack of such institution and a plea for the force of performance to institute the structures we need, The Institution of Performance is a background gesture that turns all participants into protagonists, while preserving something of the tidal movement of a way of being together unfettered by outside means, respecting individual needs for difference, dissent and constant rearticulation. Its texture is acoustic and reflexive.
𝗞𝗿õõ𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗸, born in 1981 in Tallinn, Estonia, is an artist, performer, stand-up comedian, and dancer based in Vienna. They studied choreography at ArteZ and Fine Arts at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam. Krõõt has a penchant for self-sabotage, for getting caught up in the awkwardness of the moment, trusting far more the dramaturgy of the endeavour than its actual success. Juurak has taken workplace conflicts and put them on the stage, performed for pets, and even assigned the role of director to their one-year-old child. Juurak regularly premiers their work at Tanzquartier Wien, including most recently Lesson (2023), SCHOOL (2023, with PARASOL) and CODOMESTICATION (2019, with Alex Bailey) and tours with PCCC* – The Politically Correct Comedy Club.
𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗮 𝗕ü𝗰𝗵𝗹𝗲𝗿 (CH/AT) is a performer, choreographer, and visual artist. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Zürich University of the Arts and is currently studying in the Transmedia Art class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. His practice revolves around the body and its entanglement in norms and social structures, temporality and power, and ranges from performance to installation and sculpture. His performative and installation works have been shown at Kunstverein Gartenhaus (Vienna), Cabaret Voltaire (Zürich), Les Urbaines (Lausanne), Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Salzburger Kunstverein, Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, Laurenz, Vienna, and Spoiler, Berlin, a.o. As a performer, he has worked with Krõõt Juurak and Olivia Erlanger, among others.
