In The Ignorant Other, Diego Agulló invites the audience to send him text messages in Romanian, confessions, thoughts, or controversial declarations they have never dared to say aloud publicly. On stage, he reads them in Romanian in real time, without understanding their meaning. His pronunciation may falter, but his voice carries the weight of what others cannot express.
Through this act of speaking without knowing, The Ignorant Other explores the strange freedom that comes from ignorance. What happens when someone becomes the messenger of words they cannot interpret? Who is responsible for meaning? Between trust and exposure, this performance transforms communication into an experiment in vulnerability, collective authorship, and poetic risk.
